July - Keynsham Lifesaving Competition.
On Sunday 8th July 2012, Keynsham Lifesaving Club are holding their first ever lifesaving competition and we want YOU to take part! This event makes an ideal introduction to competitive lifesaving because it’s specifically aimed at lifesavers without little or no prior experience of competitions.
The competition is being held at Keynsham Leisure Centre near Bristol. The competition starts at 11:30 and finishes at 16:30.
The competition is open to teams of two in the following age categories: school years 6-8; school years 9-10 and school years 11-13. Don’t worry if you haven’t got a partner – send us your details and we’ll try to match you up with another competitor. There are no prerequisite awards required.
The closing date for entries has been extended until Saturday 16 June 2012. The competition normally costs just £10 per person (£20 per team), but if you post your application before the 2nd June 2012 you can take advantage of our special early-bird rate of just £8 per person (£16 per team).

July - Beach Olympics 2012.
In this exciting year that we are hosting the Olympic Games, Gloucestershire Lifesavers Youth Committee have organised a fun outing to Barry Island to hold their own Olympic Games at the beach.
This event will be open to all members from clubs around the Gloucestershire Branch and we also may be meeting some of the members from the club at Barry Island. It will be a good chance to meet new and exciting people.
It will be held on Sunday the 15th of July, keeping our fingers crossed for sunshine.

Sept - Avon & North Wiltshire Branch Lifesaving Championships Heat.
Since RLSS Avon & North Wiltshire does not currently have a competition secretary, there will be no branch heat this year. Instead, up to four A&NW competitiors in each category will progress straight through to the regional heats. If we receive more than four entries in a category, places in the regional heat will be allocated on a first-com first-served basis.
The closing date for entries is the 10th July 2012. The regional heat will take place on the 15th Sept in Bristol, and the National Championships will take place on 15 Dec in Sheffield.
Entries are invited in the following ages (ages as at 31 December 2012):
> Junior Girls – pairs aged 12-14 years
> Junior Boys – pairs aged 12-14 years
> Senior Girls – pairs aged 15-17 years
> Senior Boys – pairs aged 15-17 years
> Ladies – individuals aged 16 years and over
> Mens – individuals aged 16 years and over
> Masters Ladies – individuals aged 30 years and over in 10 year age groups
> Masters Mens – individuals aged 30 years and over in 10 year age groups
If you would like to represent the branch at the regional competition (and perhaps go through to the National Championships) please complete an entry form and send it David Fielding, Vice-Chairman RLSS A&NW, 6 Beckington Road, Bristol, BS3 5EB to arrive no later than 10 June 2012. Incomplete or incorrect entry forms will not be accepted.
